Summary: Midstream Technology's "Aletheia" algorithm is a method for identifying specific patterns and behaviors exhibited by networks of accounts in social media. The Aletheia platform can identify global behaviors indicative of astroturf campaigns. Then, using metadata and account posting patterns, identify which accounts are malicious bots gaming recommendation algorithms and which are genuine human run accounts. It can also pick up on rhetorical cues common in disinformation, such as sensationalization of information or pick up on behaviors from the network pushing the disinformation.
